The autoharp is the worst musical instrument in the world. This opinion is based on bad associations with bad songs played badly at helpless captive schoolchildren including yours truly. Here, the autoharp is re-imagined as a force for good, or savaged, if you prefer, in a crass display of blipotronic avant-dub mayhem. Approval.

One of my fave contemporary dub music artists is Brooklyn’s Dub Is A Weapon. They render dub in its original spirit, but theirs is not a rote interpretation. They have fun with it. The go deep and retrieve exotic dub beasts from underwater sonic chasms. So here ya go – Lee “Scratch” Perry’s top east coast disciples, with “Leave I and I” featuring the choice vocal stylings of Rob Symeon.

Sonic Boom Six – “People Acklike They Don’t Know” mp3

One of my favorite newish groups is one Sonic Boom Six from Manchester. This is one of their earlier singles and it just kills. In fact I love it too much to speak intelligently about it. Just hit it and be knowing about them. CDs @ CD Universe.

One of the more consistently inspired composer/producer/players in dub reggae music is one Victor Rice. A master of both the art and craft of dub, his instrumentals are items of rare beauty. “Drum Thief” is one of my favorites. Original, moving, powerful and soulful work. And you don’t even have to steal it. Go forth and dubify.
